New report Outlines What We ought to and Shouldn’t expect From WWDC 2020

Apple is set to kick of its annual WWDC event on Monday and it could be a big year for both Apple and developers. We’re expecting plenty of new things to come out of the opening keynote and a new Bloomberg report has laid out what we should, and shouldn’t, expect from this year’s WWDC.

Starting out with what isn’t going to be announced, Bloomberg says we shouldn’t be expecting to see any new hardware next week with Apple set to save that for an announcement later in the year. That implies an Apple TV and new HomePod won’t get seeing the light of day just yet.

Apple plans minor upgrades for the Apple TV set-top box’s software with a new version of the hardware in the works for as soon as later this year, while the Apple view is expected to get new faces, a mode for kids and, many notably, a new sleep tracking app. and it is working on a new smaller HomePod for later this year.

We will, however, see plenty of software. Apple is set to announce new iOS, iPadOS, macOS, and watchOS updates that will be released to the public this September or October. some of those will set the groundwork for new hardware, according to the report. That includes the new Apple TV and HomePod as well as four new iPhones and some Mac refreshes, too.

The software updates will set the stage for a range of new hardware gadgets also launching this year, including a new Apple Watch, four redesigned iPhones, the new HomePod and Apple TV box, as well as updates to the iMac and MacBook Pro. The company also plans its first pair of over-ear headphones as well as an accessory for finding physical objects, which will integrate with the new software.

The good news is that Apple has reworked its software process to avoid the mess that resulted in iOS 13 and macOS 10.15 Catalina being released last year. hopefully we can look forward to something much much more stable this time around around.
