I have shown up house safely, as well as I’ll spare you the long as well as tiring story of exactly how horribly my airline experiences were, both directions. The contest was delightful. Not only did I get to watch the teams compete, I got to satisfy people that I’ve wished to satisfy for a long time. The judges as well as shop screens were a pleasure to talk with as well as work with. There are some fantastic everyday recap videos on the development website, however I can’t embed them.
You’re most likely wondering who won. Well, that was revealed after I left. the public hadn’t even begun to vote on people’s option (we weren’t even completed building the indication with the voting buttons!).
The judges were from all different areas of expertise. We had a type to fill out for every job that had a number of different values. There was functionality, aesthetics, resourcefulness, as well as some other stuff I can’t keep in mind right now. [Greg] put together the requirements as well as I believe he did a great task at making the judging fair as well as balanced.
Judges Choice: MB Labs
They made a awesome podium that had a marble style sequencer that was extremely intuitive. This sequencer drove some drums that were being played by actuators ripped from vehicle door locks. It was truly cool.
Peoples Choice: 1.21 Jigawatts
This was the vote that came from the crowd. They might walk up as well as push a button for their choice.
The instrument would work like this:
1. you would spray paint on the white paper (which is on a roll).
2. the machine would pull the paper with it as well as checked out it optically.
3. the machine would hit chimes corresponding to the color as well as setting of the paint on the paper.

Teams Choice: I3 Detroit
This was the vote that came from the other teams. This vote took into account things like “how useful was that team” as well as “were they pleasant”.
Their instrument just twirled those tubes that make noise. It didn’t work well for the judging display, however they got some much better noise afterwords with a bit adjusting. They were a pleasure to hang out with though, as well as their concept was truly original (no midi!).
I already shared the Pissbot, which you can see in action here, as well as the Voting sign, which you will see more of when RedBull puts out more images.
There was one more side job going on during the event as well. Some custom belt buckles were going to be awarded to someone, however I don’t keep in mind who. perhaps it was for team choice. Here’s a photo of one of those as it was being finished.
And, right here is a gallery of random pictures from the last day. Enjoy.
Here are some official photos of the event!
